Combermere Abbey, Shropshire

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Amidst an ancient woodland in the heart of the Shropshire countryside sits the site of Combermere Abbey. This is an area that is steeped in thousands of years of English history, a stunning property boasting walled gardens and buildings inspired by Gothic architecture – a truly beautiful place for a wedding! This place is pretty close to home for us, so we know it well – we were delighted to be invited to film here for Emma and Martin’s wedding day, and we knew there would be no shortage of gorgeous backdrops in which to film. We spent the first part of the day with Emma and her beautiful bridesmaids – it was a joy to share this time getting them ready for the day, and we always treasure that time when everyone in the room gets to see the bride transform and put on her dress – truly magical. Emma and Martin were such a good-humoured couple – they and all of their family and friends were great fun to be around and always up for a laugh, making the event a lot of fun to film at. The whole wedding was quite a relaxed affair, a sign of good planning by the bride and groom every part of the event was so well thought out to make sure that everyone in the room felt special. The couple managed to strike that perfect balance between tradition and personal touches – we absolutely loved hearing the singing waiters they had at their reception! It was so different and uplifting, and everyone really enjoyed it. There were some funny moments too – not least when one of the children gave a huge yawn in the middle of the ceremony, during a quiet time. None of the guests could help but giggle at that, and I’m sure it’s something he’ll be teased about for years to come! The speeches were both heartfelt and full of laughs, and delivered with such beautiful sentiment and emotion, and were followed by plenty of great music and dancing, where everyone came together for a good time. A beautiful wedding, and a beautiful couple. Venue: Combermere Abbey Photographer: Helen Williams Videographer: Newton Films
